Two Shows: Celebrating Women Artists & Collective Hues
Two more shows. One in Jersey City and the other in Livingston, NJ. The two pieces I have in Jersey City, are political. Other than making protest signs (my freedom of speech) I am not known for doing this kind of artwork. It has been an interesting experience making these dark, meaningful paintings. I had a strong desire to express my distraught over this authoritarian government in power. After finishing, “A King is in the House,” I couldn’t look at it. It was dark, heavy and disturbing. My work is light, delicate and intricate, not ominous and foreboding I felt the need to cut it apart to allow some light in, to give hope. The second piece, ” He Shits on We the People,” began as an intuitive ink painting. It quickly became political. I saw people with protest signs and looming figure overhead looking down with complete disregard for the people who make up this country. I was disgusted when after the “No Kings March” an AI generated video was created showing our commander in chief in a fighter plane and dropping excrement on protestors, singling them out and not giving any credence to the march.

Celebrating Women Artists- from Hudson County to Monhegan Island
Friday, December 5th, 7:00pm-10:30pm
Gallery at Imago Beauty
673 Bergen Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304
The event is a celebration of women artists from two very different locations. The first is here in Hudson County with all its diversity of scenery- from skyscrapers to beautiful parks, from busy highways to paths less traveled. The second is Monhegan Island, Maine featuring rugged cliffs, unpaved roads, miles of wooded hiking trails and a beautiful, protected harbor. One thing they have in common is women who are tough, brilliant, resilient and talented!
The show features work highlighting over a dozen such women. You’re invited to join us for the opening reception celebrating JC Fridays on Friday, December 5 starting at 7PM.
